Nowadays video surveillance is used in thousands of organizations around the world to improve public safety, to investigate and prevent crime and disorder, to decrease losses. Moreover, video surveillance is an effective tool to improve the work performance of employees at an enterprise.

In spite of all these technical achievements in the sphere of video surveillance, reviewing and analyzing a recorded video of a long length is, as before, a painstaking task which requires a lot of time and a big team.
The BriefCam products are based on a unique technology called VideoSynopsis (VS).
VideoSynopsis tracks and analyzes the movement of objects and turns video streams into a database of objects and events. If it is necessary to obtain a video summary, all objects from the target period are collected and shifted in time to create a much shorter video showing maximum activity. VideoSynopsis generates a video clip in real time, in which objects and activities that originally occurred in different times are displayed simultaneously.

The video is processed on the BriefCam server right after the recording. The client BriefCam possesses a simple and intuitively understandable interface and allows its users to choose a concrete camera and set the time range. The video clip is generated according to the necessary specifications and does not require any additional processing. While watching the video clip, one can always return to the original view. The user can change the density of objects and the
video speed in order to track the events and proofs.
The process begins with finding and tracking objects of interest. Each object is displayed as a «tunnel» in the «range of time» of all the shots. The objects are defined and stored in the database almost in real time.
After the request for the summary of the necessary period of time, all the objects and events are extracted from the database and shifted in time, which, as a result, allows us to create a short video with maximum activity.
